Seeking a Home
I was attending church like I often do on Sunday when I was
surprised to see someone from my past. A former student I knew from college
arrived with his family. We recognized each other immediately and began
talking. He told me how his family was seeking a church to call home. I was
super excited and of course welcomed him. I knew of his faith personally, in
fact he gave me a wedding present that I used to purchase a large print bible
(standard bibles have super tiny writing) and I still use it to this day.
He and his family have now been with us well over a year now
and over this time we have become close like a family. Not only do we see each
other on Sundays but we talk more and more during the week. We help each other
in times of trouble and we trust one another to be an ear to listen. Sometimes
you just need someone you can trust to open up to that is not in your immediate
family. You never realize that people you meet either at work or school could
just one day wander into your private life and become like family.
